I want to fly - O yes,
like a hummingbird.

I want to feel free to engage
in a freefall fantasy.

I want to open my wings out,
keep them beating,
holding still while the speed is increasing;

sipping on nectar, which keeps me
flying free.

When I've had my fill I will
fly to another

flower that is blooming,
and sip on the nectar.

When I've had my fill I will fly -
into the blue.

    Thank you for this delightful poem about the hummingbird. Almine tells a story of the hummingbird, I think in one of the summer courses. As I remember it: The hummingbird comes to the flower to drink the nectar, but first listens for the individual song of the flower and vibrates it with its entire body, so the flower can hear its own song, and in delight, the flower releases the nectar for the hummingbird. You are our hummingbird singing our songs on the radio!

    I did learn recently (from utube) that the hummingbird doesn't take from every flower it stops at, but seems to choose which ones to drink from. Almine's interpretation is beautiful and resonates with the poetic perspective.

    Marie, thank you so much for your words, they are appreciated.
